Apologetics     TH-S-311/312
The course will study the methods used to defend the faith, particularly from the standpoint of the authority of the Bible and historical evidences of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The objective is to generate confidence concerning the Christian faith through rational defense and response to the anti-Christian objections. An exploration into the relation of Christian faith and reason, God’s existence, the problem of evil, the possibility of miracles, the historicity of the Resurrection, and the intelligibility of the Trinity and the Incarnation.
Basic English     ENG-099
This course gives students an opportunity to explore and practice grammar with clear instruction, explanations and relevant examples. Specific lessons on parts of speech, writing skills and advanced skills such as developing themes and ideas with are provided within this course.
Book of Acts     NT 205
The Book of Acts provides a rich historical account of the early Christian Church and the people who became the pioneers of our faith. This course is an expository presentation of the Book of Acts. This course will provide the student with a chronological account of the development of Christianity from the resurrection and ascension of Jesus to the arrival of Paul in Rome.
Book of Isaiah     OT 302
This course is an expository presentation of the Book of Isaiah. A historical and exegetical study of a selected group of prophetic oracles within the major sections of this book will be explored. The message of Isaiah for his own and subsequent times are interpreted.
Book of Revelation     NT-521
This course is an expository presentation of the Book of Revelation, chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse: special attention given to interpreting the apocalyptic imagery and symbols. Each student will conduct a thorough and careful study, with the goal being that even the most difficult passages will become clear.
Christian Ethics and Modern Day Problems     ET-601
Considers how Christianity confronts the complexities of a highly technical society. Are there universal absolutes that cross all cultural boundaries, or are all values relative? Designed to help students articulate what molded their value system and what should help to shape it.
Christian Thought (formerly Biblical Beliefs)     TH-S-101
This course is a study of the foundational truths that comprise Christianity with a focus on theism, Bibliology, and Theology. Covered in the course are creation and the fall of man, faith and regeneration, justification and adoption, prayer and worship, angels, satan, resurrection and judgment and the church.
Church Finance     CM-S- 400
This course is to enable pastors, ministries leaders and church officials to comprehend a general understanding of a Biblical approach to finance. Studies will include church budgets, the purchasing of property, and investment of the church, simple accounting and cash flow techniques.
Conditions for Discipleship     ST 155 - 215
Examination of the dynamics of discipleship, with primary emphasis on obedience as well as the basic understanding of, call to and the cost of such service.
Discovering Spiritual Gifts     TT-S-215

An analysis of the authority of scripture relating to early church creeds and later denominational confessions, attention is given to the scope, inspiration and canonicity of doctrinal formulations.
Dynamic Evangelism     ME-201
The course will examine what the Bible has to say about the mission of the church as an agency for spreading the gospel. How can this mandate be fulfilled? What are the tools, methods, programs and resources available to assist in the furtherance of the gospel? How does urban evangelism differ from rural evangelism? What are the key ingredients for doing cross-cultural evangelism? What are the Biblical models for outreach? How can evangelism reach each age group?
English Grammar and Composition     ENG 101/102
Designed to provide instruction in English Composition, study and functional skills, oral and written communication. The course is designed to teach organization of ideas in a clear, effective way to make an argument, describe something, explain something, tell a story or give a report. The basic units of composition are sentences and paragraphs. The second half places more emphasis on writing. Term/Research papers are required.
Epistle to the Romans     NT 211
This course presents the religious, historical and cultural reality surrounding the first century Roman congregation in an effort to understand the beliefs and prejudges held by many gentiles during this era.
Eschatology     ST 640
The nature of immortality, death and the intermediate state receives emphasis in light of the history of doctrine and recent trends. Under the momentum of modern thought, the biblical teaching of the final tribulation, millennial kingdom, the eternal state and the judgment of God receive careful scrutiny.
Exegesis in Genesis     OT-401
Verse by verse analysis of the Book of Genesis. Emphasis is not only on the over running themes of the Book but also on the critical-theological problems that serves to be a vital contributor to the present statements of faith. The course will exam the Sovereignty of God, the Creation, the Covenants, and the Promise.
Gospel of John     NT -112
This course provides the opportunity to study John’s witness to Jesus, focusing on the distinctively Johnanine understanding of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the Christian life.
Hermeneutics (formerly Biblical Interpretation)     TH 401
Since all doctrine arises out of the interpretation of Scripture, it is logical to study the interpretation and application of Scripture. This course presents a unique approach in evaluation of history, definition of the foundational elements in interpretation and presentation of hermeneutical principles.
History of the Black Church in America     CH-501
History of the black church from slavery to the present emphasis on the church's role as a black social institution, its religious attitudes as expressed in songs and sermons, and its political activities as exemplified in the minister-politician.
Homiletics I – III     TH 201/202/203
Presented is a study of the principles governing construction and the development of the sermon. The divine call, the development of natural and spiritual gifts, the use of the Bible, and the preparation and delivery of sermons. Practice is given in preparation, writing and the delivery of sermons. Careful attention is given to the structuring of various types of sermons as well as to the dynamics of delivery styles.
Introduction to Biblical Counseling     BC-S-201
A survey of Christian approaches to the field of counseling focusing on: paradigms and models, how they compare, and how these strategies can be implemented in ministry.
Introduction Church Administration     CA 201
Students examine foundations for an explore styles of administration which are congruent with the Christian faith. Resources for development of administrative and teaching skills are explored. Theology of ministry administration, the teaching program and the organizational life of the local church are illustrated. Students study current theories of management by objectives.
Introduction to Christian Education     ED-S-201
This course presents an overview and examines the material and methods for Christian teaching, the function and place of Christian education in the local church and summarizes the Biblical, Theological, historical, philosophical foundations and the basic objectives of Christian education.
Introduction Church History     CH 201/202
This course will examine the significant trends and events in the development of Christianity from the time of Christ to the Reformation, including a study of the church in relation to the Roman Empire, the influence of the church fathers, Christological controversies, the rise of the papacy, and medieval society. A further study of the church from Reformation period to the present time, its development in Europe and in America; a analysis of the main braches of Protestantism and their relation to the State, the Catholic Counter Reformation, and the Evangelical movement.
Introduction to Gospel Teaching     LD 302
For Christians who teach or would like to teach in the Church School (Sunday School) or a Bible College. Emphasis will be placed on the methods and the art of becoming an effective teacher.
Introduction to the Holy Spirit     TH-S-460
The biblical foundations, historical developments, theological meaning, and contemporary relevance of Christian faith in the Holy Spirit are examined.
Introduction to New Testament Greek     GR 601/602
Elements of grammar and syntax of the Koine Greek as opposed to classical Greek are introduced Emphasis is placed on Greek alphabet, knowledge of key terms, vocabulary, translation, and the utilization of available study aids: such as lectures, concordances, commentaries, etc.
Introduction to Psychology     PSY 101
This course examines major areas of scientific psychology. The primary focus is on the areas of neural and motivational control of behavior, memory and thought, social interaction, and psychological development.
Leadership Principles     LD 402
This course is designed to increase the student’s knowledge of the theoretical aspects of leadership and of administrative roles within the Church. Ideas of leadership are examined and applied to Christian education in the local church. Emphasis is placed on leadership development, organizational change, conflict management and time and stress management.
Legal Rights & Responsibilities     TS 301/302
An informative and explanatory survey of the basic fundamentals of law. An exploration of contracts, real estate property, torts and wills, domestic relations, insurance, copyright/patents, bankruptcy and criminal law, intended to produce well-informed church leaders and clergy persons who are aware of their rights and privileges.
Life & Teachings of Jesus Christ     NT 121
A comprehensive study of the life and teachings of Jesus, as unfolded in the four gospels with analytical attention to the gospel writers and their writing in attempt to reveal the impact of His Self-revelation on that age and ours.
Major Prophets     OT 111
A survey approach to the work of all of the major prophets of the Bible. The exegesis in this course will provide an in-depth analysis of each of the prophets.
Men: Models Servants     LD 103
This course will provide practical instruction and biblical foundations on the importance of becoming model servants in the church, the home, on the job and in the community.
Minor Prophets     OT 213
A study of the twelve minor prophets, concentrating on the social, political and religious conditions of their time comparing and contrasting their message and thought with the contemporary thinking of the time.
Ministry to Adults     CM-S-210-211
This course covers the issues, development tasks and biblical principles associated with ministering to adults. Emphasis is placed on the adult learner, including characteristics, patterns and principles of adult learning.
Ministry to Children     CM-S-220-221
How to effectively minister to children ages birth to adolescence in view of their particular spiritual, cultural and psychological development.
Ministry to Youth     CM-S-230-231
This course is designed to study effective ministry to youth from adolescence to young adulthood in view of their particular spiritual, cultural and psychological development.
New Testament Survey     NT 101
A presentation and general study of the New Testament writings with emphasis on the harmony of the four gospels, the Letters and Revelation is given.
Old Testament Survey I & II     OT 101/102
A general introduction to the study of the Old Testament with emphasis on the harmony of scriptures. The narratives, sacred history, and revealed religion of Israel are explored. A review of the Old Testament’s uniqueness in providing an answer to human inquiry into the past and its application to the contemporary world will be presented.
Parables of Jesus     TH 221
An introduction to the various methods being used to interpret Jesus’ parables. Historical, critical, and literary methods of analysis are discussed. The course will exam the theological significance of the vision of God and humanity that emerges from the parables.
Pastoral Counseling     PC 111/112
The fundamental theme of this introductory course in pastoral counseling is that pasturing is by definition counseling. Pastoral counseling is a skill based on a body of understanding. Designed to facilitate both the actual skill of counseling and the acquisition of knowledge and insights based on reading and experience. Criteria for success based on biblical precepts are covered. Humanistic views are examined as well as the positions of contemporary Christian psychologists.
Paul’s Letters to the Corinthians I & II     NT 324/325
Students will examine and critically exegete the Apostle Paul’s letters to the Church at Corinth. The course is structured so that there will be verse-by-verse examination and review of the two books. These letters will be examined in light of the historical, culture, sociological, and economic conditions of the City of Corinth. Students will be able to study the letter homiletically and in light of their implications upon the 29th century church. Key issues, including the Eucharist are also examined. Major emphasis will be the preparation of professionally trained and competent ministers to administer the church of Christ.
Praise & Worship     TT-201
Practical instruction and biblical foundations on the importance of praise and worship in the life of the church.
Preaching for Special Occasions     TH 330
This course is designed to aid students in selecting appropriate scripture to fit different occasions, special functions and celebrations in the life of the church and its people.
Principles of Teaching     ED-S-210
A study of the basic principles of effective teaching based on the Christian philosophy of education of growth in wisdom, in stature and in favor with God and men. The course includes characteristics and needs of various age level students, ways in which Christian teachers can meet these needs, the fundamental responsibilities of the teacher, modern educational methods, and steps in preparing, presenting and evaluating a lesson. Various methods of Bible study are introduced in this course to prepare the student for an exciting lifetime of Bible investigation for personal growth and teaching opportunities. Methods include: word studies, biographical studies, historical studies and more.

Exegesis and examination of the use of Psalms in Israel.
Purpose of Prayer     TT-S-211
This course will define and give an introduction to Christian theology and methodology of prayer. Its purpose and power are discussed and demonstrated throughout this course.
Reformation     RE-S-210
This course examines the long succession of reform movements sponsored by popes, abbeys, emperors and councils. The theology and careers of the Protestant Reformers, Luther, Calvin, Zwingli and Cranmer will be examined. The very idea of reform, briefly trace its history across the centuries.
Role of Women in Ministry TS-S-524
A study of ministry to and by women, including Biblical foundations for roles of women in the home, church and society.
Senior Seminar     RE I
Senior Seminar is designed for seniors who have maintained at least a 3.5 or above average. The seminar will allow students to self-direct their individual pursuit of interest, which should enhance their preparation for spiritual leadership.
Soteriology I/II     ST 325/326
A consideration of the origin of salvation in the grace and election of God. Focus is given to the divine work of salvation as redemption, propitiation, reconciliation, and justification, the application of that completed is studied in terms of regeneration and sanctification through faith and true repentance. Also, included is a study of the philosophical and methods of evangelism.
Spiritual Warfare     TS-S-301
Provides Christian disciples with a biblical understanding of the origin of spiritual warfare. Prepares Christian disciples to stand against the “wiles of the devil.”
Suffering in the New Testament I/II     NT 201/202
An exegetical study of the New Testament (with some attention to the Old Testament), in order to derive possible reasons for and responses to suffering and pain in light of God’s name.
Systematic Theology     TH 101/102
An introduction to the nature and source of Theology; inspiration and verification of the Scriptures; the doctrine of God, His existence and attributes, His work in predestination, preservation and providence; and the doctrine of Christ, His preexistence, incarnation, humanity, death and atonement. An examination of study of the God-man, the nature of His kingdom, the Trinity, and the way of salvation.
Theology and Human Development     TS-S-420
Students will compare and contrast Theology with current events and studies of Humanistic Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, and Biology to determine how Theology relates to the evolving understanding of the human person.
Women and the Church     CM 391
An overview of Old Testament and New Testament didactic passages that deals with women and their role in the family, church, church history. An understanding of the social and economic conditions of women during centuries will be discussed. Lectures, readings and discussion on 19th and 20th Century feminism and current issues in the changing lives of women and the church.
